April 2016

Life comes at you fast. You are young, full of vitality, you have kids to raise and then before you know it your kids have their own kids, you are on the receiving end of old age. Our bodies begin to break down and we are left thinking, "Wow, where did that come from?"

That's where we are now, pondering health issues and looking at our grown daughters all with families and living their own. It's hard sometimes to not wonder what comes next, but I know that our Lord Jesus is in control, no matter what illness may take from us. David is fighting diabetes and high blood pressure and I have recently been diagnosed with epilepsy. Just a few months ago we were both able to do what we wished but now both of our bodies say to our minds, "Wait a minute I'll catch up to you!" Ah, such is life!

We have been finding things to be thankful for in our days however. We love being able to see our daughters and our grandchildren. They are the joy of our lives. Jamie will be 7 this year, Declan 2 in a few months and Tiffany will be delivering our little Aleigha soon. We are blessed.

David has changed jobs and has been working for the sheriff's office for a few months now and I am still attempting to crochet even though my vision is different. Its a little slow going but I get there.

I am currently searching for good recipes for low-sodium diabetic food for REAL people so I can take care of my hubby's needs. I see so many gourmet recipe books and that is just not what we eat. We are down home people so I want to find down home reality based recipes. I told David we should put a bug in someone's ear to create a restaurant that caters to people who can't eat high sodium, high sugar foods. Just last year I made the switch from eating whatever came my way and weighing in at 239, to eating less sugar, no breads, no added sodium and less processed foods. I am currently 182 so it is working out well when I stick to it. I have more incentive now since David and I are on the same page.

I haven't posted in so long I was surprised and glad that my blog was still available to me. I wonder what purpose it can serve besides letting me ramble about my little family. I guess I will see later on. I hope this posting finds everyone happy, healthy and safe. Take care and God bless.
