Hurricane Gustav 5:25 pm

Hello everyone,
We and all of our neighbors have been stuck here to sit out Hurricane Gustav. Gustav will be coming up just about 10 degrees east of us with expected winds in excess of 115 mph a category 3 storm. The parish called last night to let all residents know we should evacuate but by then all of the gas stations ran out of gas. The stores were closed yesterday and this afternoon so whatever we do from now until the storm is over, we will be winging it.

It is 5:25 pm central time and the first of the feeder bands has just come in. I will update again at around 7 pm.

Earlier a neighbor took the initiative to find out the names and phone numbers of all the neighbors and how many people are going to be staying behind for the hurricane in each house. This was so that we could help each other and also so, if in the event of a catastrophy each house had a list and the able bodied people could assist the emergency workers in finding people. Kinda morbid but it's a good idea and will make it easier to find people.

My mom went to the emergency room last night in the beginning stages of congestive heart failure. She had fluid around her heart and her heart was enlarged. She also has a DVT. She will be home for the storm.

My brother will be working on a crew boat on the river during the hurricane to round up any potential loose barges so the levees won't get hit and burst.

Others are in harm's way that desperately need your prayers, people very close to us.
Please keep all of us in your prayers. I will try to keep updating throughout unless we lose power.
