Hello Everyone,
Since we talked last there has been another "Heather Adventure", this time I was with her and so was Tiffany. We went to Houma, and on the way home we were supposed to pass over a double bridge in an area we are not familiar with. I don't care much to watch while she drives, so I was playing Galaxy Balls on my cell phone. I noticed that we stopped at the redlight before the bridge and I glanced up briefly. I felt our ascent and glanced up again. When I did I saw this crazy zig zag pattern of a full sized silver pick-up truck in our lane of traffic, he swerved missing us and all the while I was looking at him and saying "Oh, oh, oh, what is he doing? He's on our lane!" After that fearful incident I thought I could relax and take a breath when I saw 6....6 I tell you, other cars coming up the bridge in our lane and the other lane. Then, realization hit me and I started yelling " OH MY GOD, OH MY GOD, YOU'RE GOING THE WRONG WAY!!!" All the while I was holding onto my seat and the door like the seat was going to eject or something. Praises be to the Lord though, it was a Sunday afternoon and the traffic was light. She made a quick U-turn and then I saw the side of the bridge and this poor guy who'd been walking in the pedestrian side staring with bugged out eyes at my daughter who was equally horrified. So, Heather being Heather... and trying to save face; she puts on a bright smile, gives him a wave, backs up and proceeds to finish making her U-turn. We got down the bridge "safely" and managed to get to the other bridge that was, thankfully the proper one for our direction. I was almost scared to death. Remarkably, I didn't hear a thing from Tiffany in the back seat. I think she was in shock. When we stopped off at Heather's future in-law's house I had pretty shaky legs but otherwise was intact. We made it the rest of the way home without incident. Needless to say, my game score was the worst I've ever had.
David isn't going to get the assistant manager job. He went to ask if they saw on his application that he requested Sundays off so he can be available to preach and they got really upset with him. So, he is staying at the store he is at now. They work with him. The only thing is they will be dropping his salary by $2 less an hour because the salary he was making before was for the other department he was working in. We struggle now but we will have to see what the Lord has planned for us. I know He doesn't leave His people without the things they need. I don't want anything more than our needs met. I am proud of David for trying to make sure he is available for the Lord whenever He wants him. We will have to be very vigilant though to make sure everything is taken care of the way it should be. We will need your prayers. I know God will see that he was doing his best to do what he feels God wills and so we will be ok. It's just a little scary to have a smaller salary than he's had in 13 years with all the economy on haywire mode. Please pray for us.
Have you ever noticed that whenever you try to do something it always backfires on you? I mentioned last time that I was using the pool to try to lose weight. Well, it is now messed up and I haven't had a good workout in about two weeks. The pool had an inflatable ring that you blow up to fill it. Well, somehow the ring is now flat. I have yet to find the hole and I'm scared to swim for fear I will collapse the walls. UGH! It is my most favorite mode of exercise besides lifting weights so I don't know how I will continue now. We don't have our bowflex anymore since we moved here. I'll figure something out, hopefully the hole will be found and I can continue. I'll see. All I know is I HAVE to take off this weight. I don't even want anyone to see me right now. I am ashamed of what I did with what God gave me and I'm tired of hurting all the time.
I have been fighting burn out from all my running around so I am trying to take the time to slow down. I have created a schedule so I can spend more time with God and also to get things done around the house and for my family. I have also taken some time to crochet some things. Crocheting relaxes me a great deal...so much so that from all the counting I often can be found falling asleep in mid-stitch. I am working on a monkey for my neice Ashlee's birthday and I have a frog prince to make for another neice's birthday. A friend also asked if I could make her a chihuahua for her like I made for my dad for father's day. So, I will be busy for a while with projects. When I finish them I will take pics so everyone can see them.
VBS went well. We had 11 kids who came forward to give their lives to Christ. AMEN!!! That's the most people we have had in a long time. We are still in the search for a new pastor, but we aren't hurrying as we feel the one for us has already been chosen by God, we are just waiting for him to reveal that man to us. It still feels funny without Bro. Sam and Mrs. Betty being here. I miss them.
Rochelle just finished a mural. Her first picture with more than one person, at least one that she is satisfied with. She has Red Skelton, Bob Hope, John Wayne, Desi Arnaz, and Roy Rogers with an NBC mike on it. The picture at the top of this blog post is the picture I was just talking about. I hope you can see it, as she took a digital picture of it to post it to her myspace. Now she is working on a picture of Jimmy Stewart, if it turns out, I will post it.
My father's surgery went well. He has markable improvement in his vision. He will be having surgery on the other eye July 15th. Mom had a routine pet scan run to make sure the cancer has not come back in any other place. We will know the results soon.
I hope this post finds everyone happy, healthy and safe. Take care and God bless.
